Blog as Sales Tool?

Vol. II, Issue 7
February 13, 2007

A note from Patsi and Denise:

You know we're constantly singing the praises of using blogs to market your business.  Today's Savvy Tip features a blog that is being used to recruit participants to a high-end marketing seminar. This is an excellent use of a blog. When you consider how inexpensive it is to set up a blog, why wouldn't you do this?

With TypePad, you get 3 blogs for $8.95 per month. If you upgrade to the Pro level, you get unlimited blogs for $14.95 per month. Denise has 12 blogs on one account. We can easily set up a new blog for any program or event…and we do.

A couple of years ago, we set up a blog specifically for promoting our attendance at a conference and blogging live at the event. Recently we set up a new blog just to promote and feature our Blogging and Beyond radio show.

The more focused you are on the topic of your blog, the better the readers you attract who will be genuinely interested in that specific information. Think about it.  Doesn't it make sense?

Smart and Savvy Tip: Blog as Sales Tool

What the heck is a “Sales Blog?” I just stumbled across one the other day. It’s a blog set up with only one purpose: to sell a product. In this case, the blog I stumbled upon is designed to sell registrations to a big Internet marketing seminar held every year. Since it is an annual event, the blog stays up all year.

In the months before the event, presenters are featured, giving prospects a taste of what the seminar holds for participants. There is a category for interviews with previous attendees, which are testimonials.

The blog features video and audio files, so you can see and hear information. There are links to get more details about the event that take you to a "traditional" long copy sales page.

Then in the months following the seminar, the blog continues its strong Internet presence as a follow up for attendees, and starts marketing for next year’s seminar.

Want to see this fine example? I was blown away. But not surprising, since it is artfully done by one of the big Internet marketing gurus, Ken McCarthy. Go to www.thesystemblog.com. The real sales page is at www.thesystemseminar.com.

Note: we are not affiliates of this event, nor do we have any opinion one way or the other about The System.  We provide this as an example of yet another way to use a blog to market your business.
