Who is right? Denise or Patsi?

Vol. III, Issue 19
May 13, 2008

A smart and savvy tip from Patsi and Denise:

Denise and I are arguing about this, and we need your help to settle a bet.

What's the #1 reason you're not writing more often on your business blog?

I can make a pretty good guess. (Hit the reply and tell me if I'm wrong because Denise and I have a bet riding on this...!)

She bet it's because you can't find the time. She says everyone's too busy and out of time.

I am betting it's because writing great blog posts is frustrating, because you don't get immediate results and feedback as soon as you hit 'publish.'

When you spend time and energy writing a great post and only one or two people comment, and you
don't see a spike in sales... well, it's frustrating.

Who's right, Denise or me? Or, maybe we're both right?

Over on our Writing on the Web blog, I've been writing about the 4E's, 4 learning styles, 4 questions, and 5 ways to enrich your blog posts.

For example, do you review your blog posts for the 4 E's? We recommend every post Educates, Entertains, Engages and Enriches your reader. Before you click the Publish button, reread your post and see if you have three out of four E's covered.

We know blog writing isn't as simple as 4 steps, but it's a way of helping you connect better with your readers. You can get more specific details here.

Here's the important part of this message: no matter what niche you're in, no matter how clever you are, effective business blog writing isn't always quick and easy.

So what should you do? Don't stop blogging, for sure! Here's a suggestion: learn how to write better blog posts that get spectacular results for your business.

You know you can do better. We know it. So we're going to teach you everything we've learned about Better Business Blog Writing - next week!
