How do you measure blog success?

Vol. III, Issue 26
July 22, 2008

A smart and savvy tip from Patsi and Denise:

How do you know if the effort you put into your business blog is worth it?

What's the best way to measure and track your blog's success?

Here are some of the things we look at to measure our blogs:
  • Blog Traffic: number of unique visitors each day
  • Number of page views
  • Length of time per visit
  • Number of comments on blog posts
  • Number of inbound links to blog posts
  • Number of email subscribers
  • Number of RSS subscribers
  • Number of emails from clients who say they read our blogs or who find us via our blogs
  • Number of invitations we get to speak at workshops, conference and teleseminars  Sales attributed to our blog
But even when we look at traffic stats, we still don't have a clear enough picture of what's working or not working on our various blogs.

Imagine your blog is like a retail store. On any given Sunday, so many people come into the store. Some buy, some just "window shop" or want to find out what's new, and some are there to pick up any freebies being offered.
We've got a detailed blog post exploring this subject further at Build a Better Blog:

We're discussing this and more issues around measuring and tracking your blog's success on Thursday, July 24, 2008 with Chris Baggott, author and business blogging expert. Details below.
